Is God In The Storm

Is God in the storm?

It is Wednesday, the 10th of September,2025, and word has just come out that Charlie Kirk has been shot and killed while speaking in Utah this afternoon. After the initial shock, I began to notice something on my social media feeds, and they all started with duplicate headlines: "Political Activist Charlie Kirk dies after shooting at Utah Valley University."

This title is far from who he was. Charlie was first and foremost a follower of Jesus, and he loved the Lord with everything he had. Then he was a fantastic husband to Erika. Then he was a devoted father to a little girl and a toddler son. Who he was lastly was a defender of truth in the political area, and today someone who disagreed with his political views took his life.

Why is it that evil always tries to distort reality? This shooter wanted to silence Charlie but failed. Not one person in history has ever been able to stomp out the Gospel being delivered, and many before this shooter have tried. China has tried, Iran has tried, and North Korea has also. But all are failing.

China is predicted to become one of the largest Christian populations in the world in the near future. Iran has a radical phenomenon going on where Jesus comes to a Muslim in his dreams, which leads that person the next day to a marketplace, and the person in their dream is not only there but wearing the clothing they had on in their dreams.

My point of all of this is that Satan failed today as much as he did when Jesus was put on the cross. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, Charlie's life is not in vain; death has no sting, even when it hurts in the moment. What this man thought would put an end to Charlie Kirk's influence has, in fact, made him a national hero among young people who saw the absolute truth behind those who could not stand up to him in a debate.

God's Word always proves to be true, as it did today. Matt 6 says, "The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." This man had evil in his heart to took away a husband and father, all because they stood on different sides of our country's political aisle.

Tonight, I ask you all to read and pray Psalm 23 over our nation.

Psalm 23:
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

Remember that tonight you have nothing to fear because Jesus defeated it all when He went on that cross and walked out of that tomb three days later. I want to leave you with the words in 1 Peter 3.

"8 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. 9 Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. 10 For
"Whoever desires to love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit;
11 let him turn away from evil and do good;
let him seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
13 Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. 17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,

Pray Psalm 23 over Charlie's family, our nation, and your troubled hearts tonight.

Hurting but not discouraged,
